Week 2 – Jasmine Key

Here is the publication, I chose to make a video that displays my work as a slideshow, there is a little bit of sounds too.

I also have a made a key for the different types of experimentation both visually and with data. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_RTi2ZARAZidVfCLDdskW16Hd0StFhK5/view?usp=sharing

  1. A very cool and experimental approach to translating objects.
There’s consistency in your editing, from the pace, sound, photography, and of course the ways of translating.
One thing I would suggest for the message to be communicated more effectively is to put an introduction at the beginning of the video as well as some captions explaining each translation.
However, if your intention was to make it more mysterious to challenge the viewers’ perspectives without telling them what it is, go for it!

  2. Hello Jasmine,

I think that the video you made is really well presented and has a very nice format to show the different translations. It is dynamic and attention grabbing. Also, it is very well paced and the added sounds match perfectly with the motion/change of each individual picture.

Regarding your methods of translation, I think these are very interesting, especially the augmented scan and the experimentation with the composition of the objects image.

Using the key to specify which methods of translation you used in my opinion was a very good idea. I was thinking that you could actually add this at the end of the video, almost as if it were the credits, so that the audience can clearly see what each translation is in more detail. What do you think? 🙂

    1. Thank you so much your comments are so lovely, your feedback is great I’ll definitely incorporate that into the video 🙂
      Have a great week!

  3. Hi Jasmine! Choosing to use video format was definitely a great way to show your translation. The pacing, and the order of each translation was easy to understand and didn’t need anymore instructions. It works well with making it memorable, since we (or most people, I believe) process information through visuals more than through words, very smart choice.

The key was a great touch and guide to understanding the video more, I also liked how it relates to your last name whether that was intentional or not ahha. Maybe add a little bit more information to the video such as the relation between the objects, a short title summary? Just something to think about, or just keep it anonymous, depends on your target audience and agenda.

Keep up the great work and have an amazing week!

  4. A really interesting presentation of your translations and some of the translations themselves are really good. Obviously, it needs the key to make sense of what is going on. It would be interesting to see how this be incorporated into the video so that it could stand alone?

It would be good to be able to compare the objects for each translation? Maybe the screen could be split into three and they could all run at the same time?

Maybe add titles to the film as well?

It would have been good see some of your process work as requested.
