Converge / Week 4

First of all, I’m sorry, but I know my project isn’t completely finished…
For this last week, I tried to take the best things that marked each of my projects.
First of all, I focused on one scale and time and only dealt with things I had at home and used regularly. This helped me to make them my own and work on them more.
The geographical coordinates correspond to my address and I will find a way to perhaps understand this better…
Then, I tried to combine the fact that I like to write with some photos. The text/image relationship is what takes me the most time knowing that I’m not very confident . I don’t know if I want my final outcome to be a publication or just double-sided cards. Indeed, since last week, I have noticed that the way I categorise objects most often depends on something else: another object, a memory, a description? What I wanted to do is to have on each double page / card the object in itself plus the other thing related to it.

Every feedback is welcome :)) Thanks !

Never this without that – Exhibition

I decided to replace some objects with others that would “add something” to them and work with them, hence the name : never this without that. Some of the objects are even unusable or useless without the additional one. What is the purpose of a stapler without staples ? There are also personal things, such as the prayer book that I have associated with my mother’s chain with some Jewish religion symbols. Even if I haven’t finished everything yet, I have tried this week in my process to concentrate more on the whole page without putting too much margins and consider the double page spread.

Catalogue Book

In response to my feedback, I wanted to explore the relationship that can exist and maybe link the user, the space and the time. I decided yo ask my mom, which lives with me and my brother, Ethan which is in Montreal, different points of view, regarding the categories I choose to translate the items. For example, the position of my desk in my room will be different for the 3 of us, and the frequency of use will also be different.

I wanted to make a book that can be opened on any page, to read a memory or to have a look at a photo… The name of my book is as simple as the address of my house in Paris, because we used to live here all together. Sometimes there are our 3 answers to the categories, but sometimes I put only one of them, which I found more interesting. Indeed, I find that it brings a certain rhythm to the book and it is what I tried to do as much as possible thanks also the text/image relationship and the changes of narration.

26 special objects.

These are 26 items I collected from my flat in Paris. They all mean a special thing to my eyes ans they all have a story behind them. For exemple, the paint tube and the hard glue remind me of my intense Foundation year, the metal champagne cork cap was on the bottle my mom opened when I was accepted at CSM… I decided to explore some design for each”LATCH”category.
