Hi everyone, here is my outcome for week 3. It’s influenced by vintage stamp design as I was going for the theme of being “international” amidst a pandemic where you’re all kinda stuck at home. You can find more context in my process log (added later) but right now I’ll just leave you with the outcome-I want to know how effective it is without the aid of context
At first, I thought that I was going to do a podcast with my friend via zoom, however the friend was not answering for quite a long time, so I have prepared a plan B, which included:
A creation of a beat with Ableton 10 Lite ( it came out quite weird, as it was my first time making a beat *especially with different objects involved*)
2. Creating a video/animation, which shows the objects in a new and a modern way.
At first, I thought to just stick to stop motion animation and complete everything there, then I have realised that it would take me at least couple of days more, that’s when I found an opportunity in After Effects and kinetic typography. I knew that I would not have enough time anyway, so I have decided to go with more of a pleasing and educational way.
After last two week’s experiences, I’m seeking a way to show the object ‘s weight and shape at the same time.
I ‘ve tried put all things on the Kitchen scale and in water, but it doesn’t show the shape of objects very well.I chose the pillow as a presentation platform in the end. Every object can show different pressure on the pillow. I chose it also because the idea of “exhibition in bedroom”.
Because of the type of objects I picked – the ones I “touch” everyday during quarantine- my work ended up being more personal. I would even be a sort of thing I would do, if it weren’t for the brief. I would’ve probably printed the pictures and make a kind of journal, that I could look back on after being on lockdown – that would reflect it in a way.
So that’s what I did, in a digital version since I can’t print anything at the moment. Here it is:
I chose to edit a video to curate and exhibit my 26 objects.
I’ve been getting feedback and opinions that my project is very personal and provides a glimpse of my life to the viewers. So I thought an old videotape-style video would be a great choice. This style of video will give the viewers a feeling as if they were looking into a camcorder that has been recording my life.
It is not opened to the public, but you can watch it if you have the link!
Previously, my objects were mostly hand-written words. But I replaced 13 of them with images that are closely related to those texts and that will help the viewers to understand the content!
